IMPORTANT NOTICE

Guys in the squash leagues and competitions I have noticed something and thought I would put the question out there: IS IT TO COLD TO COME OUT THE HOUSE????? Many of you are not getting your games in this month with a few of you looking to miss out on the competitions this season!

Remember a quick phone call could earn you either 5 points or a bye in the competition if the other person cannot play. Its ashame to see empty spaces on the league tables.

It's time to get fit guys and take advantage before the snow hits so come on down and play your games!

DOVER SET THE PACE AT THE TOP!

Title contenders Dover managed to maintain their great form so far this Kent League campaign and set the pace at the top of Division 4.

Syndale were Dover’s next opponents and were dispatched pretty much as they arrived with a fine 4-1 victory from the Dover team only dropping 1 point and gained 19 valuable league points to maintain a 6 point gap at the top of the league.

Dover’s team had two team changes for the match with Liam Marsh (4) missing out due to a knee injury and Tommy Meadows (3) missing out due to eye surgery in came Tim Moore (3) and Chris Penfold (4).

First on court of the evening was Chris Penfold who used to play for Syndale up against Dave Appleby and with both guys warming the ball up nicely the game was soon underway. Chris kept the ball going and going and going and finally drew Dave into making errors to allow Chris an early lead winning the first game 9-1. Once the second game begun Dave started off well with some early breaks but Chris rode the wave of pressure to see off Dave 3-0 (9-1, 9-3, 9-1).

Tim Moore was next on court to play at number 3 Vs Paul Grzszczak and with Paul’s height and reach Tim was slow out the blocks in this game losing the first game 9-5. Fear not Tim returned onto the court a new player and with changing his game won the tie easily in the end 3-1 (5-9, 9-5, 9-0, 9-7).

The captain Ian Richardson was up next to play Matt Barnes and after the skipper took apart Matt in the early stages of the season was it to be revenge or the same story? Matt game shooting out the blocks and with the skipper’s movement slow he lost the first game 9-3. The skipper came out for the 2nd game and was on fire and with a mixture of shots and movement around the court Matt didn’t have a clue where the ball was going to end up and unfortunately for Matt it was mostly in the nick! The game finished 3-1 (3-9, 9-1, 9-2, 9-4).

Dave Clifford found himself playing another late game this season Vs Richard Clarke and with both players playing similar games this looked as if it could get interesting. Luckily for Dover Dave did not stop running with some super returns and great pressure Dave won the tie 3-1 after a little slip up help Dave regain his composure (9-5, 9-7, 7-9, 9-5).

Paul Bowes was the last man on court for the evening and with a tough tie ahead Vs Dave Holbrook it was up to Paul to see the game through and a total team win for Dover. Paul started off the match with some good length and variable pace game in which Dave struggled to adjust to at the start going 2-0 down. BUT!!!! Dave managed to pull his socks up and picking up the ball rather easily started to pick Paul off resulting in Paul losing the tie 3-2 resulting in Dover winning the tie 4-1 with 19 points out of a possible 20!

Next up Hythe 3rd Team next week and with Dover at the top of the league only a win will do, good luck guys keep up the hard work, Tommy

GREAT WIN FOR DOVER

Dover record a magic win to remain top of the league by 7 points full report to follow, well done, Dave C, Tim M, Chris P, Ian R and Paul B.
